Welcome to Glenview School
In Room 2 we have been learning to show don't tell in our writing...to create a picture in the readers head by describing the senses and not naming the object, here are some of our examples about our favourite memory boxes inspired by 'Wonderstruck' by Brian Selznick (our shared book):
Snuggly like a blanket. Black polka dots like a dark chocolate coin. A pink puffy nose like a marshmallow. Bright pink like your rosy cheeks and a ball of fluff that keeps me warm through the night.
Pitch black eyes like the midnight sky. Clean like a piece of soap. Soft like a baby’s bottom and leaving the scent of a bundle of roses on my pillow, closing my eyes slowly every night. The zip on the back keeps a pillow inside locked up.
The two bendy black antennas on the top of her furry head and nearly touching her midnight eyes. Her lips are pink like the lipstick everyone wore all the time in the olden days, and her peachy fluffy face like the inside of a peach. Her smile that always puts joy into my heart and when I look at her she lightens my day up with that one smile.

Fluffy brown fur snuggles in my arms, shiny nose reminds me of yummy candy, chocolate smell reminds me of chocolate I just want to eat him! His big googly eyes stare at me, stubby legs like Indy when she was a puppy!
Sticking to my fingers, lollipops attaching to my ginger hair, it’s heaven in my mouth, the light tingle of popping candy down my throat, the best feeling after easter with all the chocolate around me! I dream about them all day long waiting till I get home to pig out!

MYSTERY BOX!!!!
Cuddly soft brown fur I snuggle to him every night. He is my companion forever. He’s the best friend for sleepovers. His furry long tail curls around me every night I even get tangled sometimes.
The shiny black frame shines in my eyes. I look at the picture it reminds me of all the cool things I’ve done with my family and it makes me smile ![]()
Sticking to my tongue. Rubbish crackling in my hand. I suck on it for a long time. YUM YUM YUM!!! Swirling in my mouth, tastes just so yum! I want to eat more!

My Mystery box
Fluffy and loves cuddles with brown fur all over, my kitten also sleeps with him.
Frizzy hair all in my face when I go to sleep with soft hands touching my face.
People standing staring at me with a black frame around them not doing anything.
A girl with a bird in her hand who is now in Canada who room 2 all miss.
A books highlights of my days forever and hiding it from my brother every time I’m finished with it.
Worth quite a lot from where ever these things come from, and some have the queen on them.

My memory box
Fluffy and fun to play with. Black fur likes to shed on people. He has a tail that looks like a small cloud. Always in his cage he likes to hop and hop that’s why we named him Flip Flop. Little chocolate buttons come out all stinky. As fast as a cheetah he likes to eat hay. Cute black nose. One ear up one ear down that’s why we never have a frown. It was sad when he died that’s why my brother cried. He was the first one we had and it was so sad to see him go.

Memory box
Black and brown patches scattered around the whitish coat of soft silk fur. Black eyes shine at me each night. My sweet soft furry companion on sleepovers.
Bold and shiny black and white hexagons on my 3D circle friend. Pretty sure he has bruises all over from my foot meeting his face. Emma sometimes uses him as a netball.
As black as a cold dark winter night. With his yellow eyes stunning me. Black tail swishing with no care.
A slice of heaven. Chocolate goodness melts in my mouth. So good I want more and more and more.
