Principal’s Greeting

Dear Glenview Primary School Community,

As we come to the end of another vibrant and rewarding year at Glenview Primary School, we take a moment to reflect on the many experiences, achievements, and relationships that have shaped our journey together. It has been a year marked by growth, resilience, and connection, all strengthened by the values that sit at the heart of our school community.

Throughout 2025, our students have shown tremendous progress across all learning areas. Their curiosity, determination, and love of learning have shone through in classrooms, across the playground, and within our wider community. Whether developing new skills in literacy and numeracy, participating in rich inquiry learning, or embracing leadership opportunities, our students have impressed us with their enthusiasm and commitment. The continued development of Learnership has further supported our learners to think deeply, collaborate effectively, and approach challenges with confidence.

Our school values — Honesty, Effort, Respect, and Engagement — continue to guide our daily interactions and shape the positive culture we are proud to uphold at Glenview. These principles have been evident in the way our students support one another, contribute to school life, and engage in community initiatives. We are incredibly proud of how they demonstrate these values both inside and outside the classroom.

To our Year 6 students, as you prepare to take your next steps beyond Glenview, we celebrate everything you have achieved during your time with us. Your leadership, energy, and unique contributions have enriched our school in countless ways. As you move on to intermediate and beyond, remember that you will always be part of the Glenview whānau. We look forward to seeing the exciting paths you will follow and the successes that await you.

This year, we also farewell several much-loved staff members who have made significant contributions to Glenview and to education over many years.

We extend our deepest gratitude and warmest wishes to Mrs Gray-Bird, Mrs Peden, and Mrs Wilson, who are retiring after long and dedicated careers. Their passion, professionalism, and commitment have touched the lives of countless students and families, leaving an enduring legacy within our school.

We also farewell Mrs Mayall, who after 22 years of devoted service to Glenview, will be leaving to spend precious time with her grandbabies. Her dedication, expertise, and warmth have been invaluable, and she will be greatly missed by students, staff, and families alike.

Finally, we say a heartfelt goodbye to Whaea Trish, whose contributions to our school and support of our learners have been deeply appreciated. We thank her for everything she has brought to Glenview and wish her all the very best for the future.

To all of our staff — thank you for your tireless effort, your passion for teaching, and your unwavering care for our tamariki. It is your commitment that makes Glenview Primary School the supportive, inspiring environment it is.

As we close out another successful year, I wish all our students, families, and staff a restful, joyful, and well-deserved summer break. May the holidays bring laughter, relaxation, and treasured time with loved ones.

Thank you for your continued support, trust, and partnership. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in the new year as we begin another exciting chapter together at Glenview Primary School.

Ngā mihi nui,

Carl Allan
Principal

Middle School Try-athlon Success!

Our Middle School students took part in an action-packed Try-athlon at the end of week 8, completing a run, bike and swim with enthusiasm and determination. It was wonderful to see every child showing perseverance, growing their skills, and demonstrating awesome sportsmanship throughout the event. The day was filled with excitement, encouragement, and plenty of smiles. Well done to all our tamariki for giving it their best and supporting one another!

Millar from M6 - “It was so much fun. My legs felt so dead at the end when I sprinted to the finish line. I want to do it all over again”.

Nathan from M2 - “It was pretty easy, but the run was definitely the hardest part”

Avi from M2 - “It was great fun and I found biking on the grass good practice because I usually only bike on the concrete”

Jeirenz from M4 - “ It was pretty hard and I could hardly breathe at the end”

Amyra from M6 - “The biggest challenge was everybody pushing in the swimming pool because they all wanted to win.”

Jamie from M5 - “My biggest challenge in the triathlon was keeping up with everyone in the run. I really, really enjoyed it”

Ramona from M5 - “ The swim was my favourite part of the triathlon, even though the pool was crowded and I could not go as fast as I would have liked.”

Interschools Athletics!

By Charlie Navarro and Te Kiriwera Herewini

We had an AMAZING time at interschools athletics. It was SPECTACULARRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! I (Charlie) have met a ton of astonishing and kind people from different schools. The schools were Hamilton West, Deanwell, Melville and obviously Glenview! I had an extraordinary experience. We did a bunch of activities including 800m run, sprints, high jump, long jump, cricketball throw, shotput (I got second and was so proud of myself) and finally relays. Overall, it was a blast!

The year 6 girls were great, I (Kiri) came 5th in cricketball throw. It was magnificent! I even made so many new friends from different schools. I had a splendid time here at interschools. We were cheering so loudly that Australia could hear us! I even found out one of my new friends liked the same things as me and even came from the same country. All of us chatted about our schools, what we were good at and more. We were all just messing around having fun together (not in a cheeky way).  Everything was enjoyable and it was an incredible time for us.
